Laila L. Muhanna is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner who has a counseling/therapy private practice in Gainesville, Georgia. Laila received her Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology with a specialization in the treatment of severe mental illness from Brenau University. She received additional training from Emory University’s School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in two areas: treatment of severe mental illness and treatment of disorders utilizing brief psychotherapy treatment. While training at Grady Health System with Emory University, Laila developed, implemented, and ran the first therapy group for individuals diagnosed with mental illness and addiction. Laila was the Program Lead and Primary therapist for the Psychosocial Rehabilitation program at Grady Health System and worked with patients as a Licensed Mental Health Clinician.
Laila is skilled in screening and assessing patients and determining treatment options and providing the treatment. She is proficient in Biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning, evaluating risk levels, and crisis intervention, with knowledge of utilizing time limited techniques including Cognitive Behavioral, Solution focused, Psychodynamic, and Person Centered Therapy in treatment of adults with variety of disorders and diagnoses.
Laila is active in local and state initiatives. Laila is a committee member on the One Hall Health and Wellness Committee - which is part of the Vision 2030 project. She is also an active member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Hall County leadership team. Laila facilitates peer groups, does school presentations called Ending the Silence on behalf of NAMI and the Department of Education.
